  1. You ever get done with a project like this and have parts left over and it’s like WTF. Bonus points if the project still worked afterwards

  2. i forget what pins you could jump on that connector at least for serial you can jump the rx and tx I think, might wanna verify that if you try it to get an echo so the screen will show what you type

  3. Why did you restore this device? So that it can now gather dust in a museum again? Nobody needs a terminal these days. So why all this effort?

  4. You can test your VT if you connect pin 2 and 3 together of the serial connector. If it’s possible don’t wash electronics boards with water. It’s better if you can wash with isopropylic alcool.
For a test type all H’s to realing the CRT.😊

  5. Really love that retro futuristic design. Also that stuff is built from proper materials and not just the cheapest plastic like modern things.

  6. As Teryl say.. the infamous grass roots Pterodactyl says.. Fire it up, Fire it up, Fire it up! Thanks, for posting, now, I fully realize the different terminals in terminals in Linux… does that work out? LOL!!!

  7. да, DEC были всегда самые красивые компьютеры (ну, может за исключением CRAY только)

  8. If you don’t show it working, all the work is worthless.
Finger down until you finish the video correctly.

  9. Install a Raspberry PI or similar ARM mini-computer inside, and connect to the Serial-interface. Will have a all-in-1 Unix computer that looks awesome.

  10. Sweet, the VT-52 is a chungus of a terminal that sadly doesn’t get enough love. Nice to see one given respect.

  11. when you wash electronic things,DON’T USE WATER!!!!!!! USE ALCOHOL!!!!! because with WATER,the electronics won’t work. 🤬

  12. A lot of things seem to making a comeback. Like vinyl records for instance. But I also heard somewhere that cassette tapes were on the way in too. Might we also see the return of VHS tapes and the video game cartridge? I kinda think it would be nice to see them come back.

  13. please plug that into the serial port of a Linux box and get this terminal back to work. it looks beautiful.

  14. Isn’t there a risk of air-born zinc particles, from media blasting, assuming some of the internals were zinc plated and corroding, such as metal fume fever.

  15. Motherboards are cleaned with 96% ethanol or a special contact spray solution. Never use soapy water to clean a motherboard of any sort! Otherwise, marvelous work!!!
